Egeskov's castle gardens are a magnificent collection of Baroque gardens with symmetrical and geometric shapes. Labyrinthical corridors created by tall hedges. Spatial oases that are revealed step by step slowly in motion through the gardens. The 'personalities' of the gardens differentiate from each other. The framed intimate spaces with semi-transparent borders invites to immersion and stimulates all senses. We have worked from these themes in the development and work with the Rotunda benches.
The benches are designed with a modern translation of ornamentation from the baroque gardens. The construction is an easy to read assembly consisting only of solid wood and sisal rope that ties the wood together. In this way the benches lies directly on the ground, taking shape from the landscape, which gives the feeling of a wood carpet on the grass. After some time grass will take over the benches, and the structures will become an integral part of the garden.
